My Story

Growing up in Dorset my family and I frequently holidayed to Pembrokeshire, Wales. Every time we ventured out to explore our surroundings I was captivated by the breath-taking landscapes that we found ourselves in. A month before my 14th birthday I broke my leg and with not being able to do a whole lot we went down to Pembrokeshire to celebrate my birthday. Being a summer baby we headed down to the beach and feeling disheartened to not be able to go in the sea, my parents gave me my first ever camera. It was a simple bridge Olympus camera, but to me it was the best thing ever. I spent the entire day with my finger on the shutter and fell in love. I loved the feeling of being able to turn our holiday memories into a permanent documentation that we would be able to look back on. Armed with my camera I went out exploring areas all over again and viewing them from a different perspective, I would get lost in my surroundings and loved being in nature and really learning to appreciate it for what it really was. Photography and developing images taught me so much and I wanted to know more.

Through our trips to Pembrokeshire I not only realised an unknown love for the coast, I also grew a love for mountains and breath-taking views after wild camping holidays. This is where I knew that it was photography I wanted to do, and landscape photography at that. A few years passed and we moved to Pembrokeshire and this is where I began to try out some different subjects and experimentation through my images. Animals became a key subject and for the few years that followed I concentrated on building my skills and confidence to take better images.

In September of 2018 having only dived once before I went on to achieve my PADI advanced open water diving qualification. I started at Falmouth University to study Marine and Natural History Photography. This introduced me to a whole new world of photography and I enjoyed it like nothing before. There was something different about diving with a camera and seeing the uniqueness of the underwater world, and I wanted to do more. I worked towards my rescue diver and visited the Red Sea in January of 2020 alongside my university for a full 2 weeks of diving. It was an experience to never forget. Through my degree I tried new styles of photography and even new subjects. I gained a real interest in sport photography and began to spend time on the side-line, as well as researching, visiting and photographing zoos and the animals they home. However, even though the subjects of my photography have grown I always found myself going back to where I started, but only better! Well through my eyes anyway. Landscapes is where my heart lays.
